"A
terrific release (...) It cannot be compared to similar
`big´ releases because 'Blue' is just simply better."

"'Blue' is exceptional, remarkable (...) moods and
emotions that became sound, calm and romantic, partly
transfigured, but never mystical."

Solitary
Beaches, Peaceful Sounds"For a change, something
totally different": Bernhard Kohles records an instrumental
CD, "Blue".
Bernhard
Kohles is tired of all the rhythmic whining and droning
radio noise. Instead, Bernhard Kohles felt the desire
to "hear something totally different for a change".
His advantage: Kohles plays keyboard, can compose and
operates, together with Horst Lustenberger, his own label
from their headquarters in
Donaustauf. (...) In this case, it is totally different:

Kohles
himself created a "totally different music".
"Blue" is the title of the second album from
the former Domspatzen who works under the artist name
"Beaver". And in fact: "Blue" is different,
exceptional, remarkable. An instrumental CD put together
with only keyboards and samples, moods and emotions that
became sound, calm and romantic, partly transfigured,
but never mystical.
If
you ask Kohles how "Blue" originated, he will
first tell you: "I was on the beach..." This
then makes it clear that he is not under the spell of
esoteric. But dreaming, relaxing, listening to the sound
of the ocean on a beach in Greece- who doesn´t that
appeal to? "Beaver" is concerned with "inner
peace, emotional balance" which is reflected in his
music. Like Kohles first CD "Friends" (1993),
"Blue" was also influenced by his good friend
and painter Minas Vlahos that not only impressed upon
him the "wild Greek island" Karpathos, but also
designed the CD cover once again.
The
music originated between April and June 1997. In this
short time, "a concept album with 16 titles, composed
almost right through, grew out of a general idea and diverse
improvisations". "Once you are in the middle,
you just flow from one title into the next", says
Kohles if you ask him about his speed. Although he does
not like to hear his music being compared with releases
from "Yanni" - in fact Beaver lacks the Clayderman-platitude
and orchestral bombastic - there is a gentle proximity
to this genre. (...)

"...a wonderful melodious album- it pleases continuously
without interruption, it´s Sade, Pat Metheny, sometimes
cool instrumental, sometimes swinging jazz, sometimes
pop, or simply captivating and beautiful! (...) one does
justice to the Singer/Songwriter criteria with the climax
"Especially for you"!"(Mittelbayerische) |
